A burned-out woman moves to a quiet border town hoping for a slower, more peaceful life with her partner. But when strange things start happening and buried memories begin to surface, she realizes this isn’t just any town. Years ago, she was chosen as part of a dark deal with three mysterious kings, and now she has to figure out whether to run, give in, or risk everything to finally end the curse.
01. The Story Behind the Work
This is a grounded, supernatural folk horror story set in a modern Mexican border town. At the center is a queer Latina woman who discovers her connection to a long-standing curse tied to a community’s pact with three mysterious kings. The story draws on Latin American folklore, magical realism, and gothic horror, exploring themes like inherited trauma, sacrifice, and chosen family. The project offers a fresh cultural lens on genre, with potential for strong visual identity, festival positioning, and cross-market appeal. It explores generational trauma, moral complexity, and the power of chosen family—all within a high-concept narrative that’s intimate, eerie, and timely.
