This is a character-driven story that explores the complicated and high-stakes world of genetic innovation. As technology pushes the boundaries between what it means to be human and what we can engineer, the story follows people caught in the middle of this fast-moving race to take control of evolution. It’s a mix of personal struggles and global consequences, where ambition, ethics, and power constantly clash. The story feels big and cinematic, with the kind of style and depth that would make it a great fit alongside shows like The Night Manager. It’s designed to connect with audiences worldwide by blending thrilling science with emotional, relatable characters.
01. The Story Behind the Work
This project grew out of the development of a novel, which quickly evolved as the author teamed up with a creative group developing the screenplay alongside the original writing. The core of the story started as an exploration of bullying inspired by the author’s own experiences, but it soon expanded to reflect a shared fascination with the rapidly advancing world of genetic technology and the ethical questions it raises. What sparked the concept was the desire to explore how far humanity might go when given the power to shape its own evolution, and the complex consequences that come with it. The team faced the challenge of balancing deeply personal themes with larger scientific, moral, and historical dilemmas, creating a story that feels both intimate and urgent. This story matters because it connects real human struggles to the pressing questions we face as technology pushes the boundaries of what it means to be human.
02. What I Did
I brought in historical research grounded in my master’s degree in WWII Studies to help shape the world of the story and give it depth. That work became central to how we built the narrative, especially as we looked for ways to root a futuristic premise in something that felt real and grounded. Alongside the research, I collaborated with the team on story development, contributing to key character profiles, emotional arcs, and overall structure. The project started as a personal exploration of bullying, but as it grew, I played a part in helping it evolve into a broader, high-stakes narrative about identity, science, and the choices we make as technology pushes us forward.
03. The Impact
The work helped strengthen the story on multiple levels. Grounding the narrative in historical research brought a deeper sense of realism and weight to the world, while the collaborative development process opened up new creative possibilities. Several character arcs and plotlines were reimagined to better reflect the emotional and ethical complexity at the heart of the story. The novel is still in progress, but the process has already inspired the author to expand the story into a full series. It’s also sparked ongoing conversations among the team about how we tell stories about the future, especially when they’re rooted in very real questions about science, power, and humanity.
